Swimming in the Ionian Sea – Day 12

After a fulfilling breakfast at a small cafe we walked to the Fountain of Diana in the center of town. We then decided to take a boat ride around the island. We stopped for a quick swim and went into several caves that outlined the cliffs. After our ride we went to an amazing pizza place next to our apartment to end the day.

A Day in Ragusa Ibla – Day 10

A catered continental breakfast served by our host starts us off for the day. We park at the bottom of Ragusa Ibla near the gardens and walk up to explore the city. We then jump in the car and head to our next stop the island of Ortigia.

A Roman Ruin from Agrigento to Ragusa – Day 9

The groups says farewell to Agrigento. I get one more run in along the Jetty and we’re off to a set of Roman Ruins in the town of Armerina. We make a quick lunch out of the back our car. then take a paid guided tour of the Roman ruins which are like no thing I’ve ever seen. We then get to Ragusa and have a Posh Dinner overlooking the quaint town of Ragusa Ibla.

Exploring Agrigento: Valley of the Temples and Scala dei Turchi – Day 8

First day in Agrigento, I provide a quick tour of our Airbnb and we grab a quick bite to eat at the local coffee cafe. Then we go on a short trip to the Valley of Temples taking in the breathtaking views and historical sites. We then head to the The White Cliffs or Turkish Steps to snap a few pictures of the iconic views and head back to the Airbnb for a homemade meal.

Trip to Santo Stefano di Camastra and Cefalu – Day 6

The family took a taxi to the train station in Palermo for a scenic ride to Santo Stefano di Camastra. After a challenging walk up a steep road with stunning views, they enjoyed lunch with locals Harold and Steve. They later tried to shop for ceramics, visited Cefalu, and returned to Palermo.

Exploring Palermo: A Day on the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus – Day 5

On Day 5 in Palermo, the travelers explored Mercardo del Capo, enjoying local dishes and music. They took a disappointing hop-on hop-off bus tour, learning little. Despite initial concerns about their neighborhood’s condition, they grew accustomed to it. Dinner at Leone improved from their first visit, featuring fresh sea bass and wine.

Traveling from Rome to Palermo – Day 4

The trip from Rome to Palermo began with a taxi at 9 am to Fiumicino Airport, where the travelers met family before departing. Upon arriving in Palermo, they were welcomed by their Airbnb host, Calagero. Dinner at a local restaurant was disappointing, but they enjoyed gelato before settling in for the night.
